Hunger is prevalent in our community. Hunger does not discriminate.
African Americans, Hispanics, Veterans, and Seniors experience food insecurity more than others.
Most of the people we serve are working but do not have enough income to cover their monthly living expenses. Instead, they have to choose between housing, healthcare, utilities, or food. People are worried about where their next meal will come from.
This is how we serve!
The Mel Johnson International, Inc. feeds the hungry, clothes the needy, and provides economic growth and development resources.
9.4 million adults live in households with very low food security.
6.1 million children live in food-insecure households in which children, along with adults, were food insecure.
84,000 children (0.8 percent of the Nation's children) live in households in which one or more children experience very low food security.
Our resource pantry, The StoreHouse, identifies and leverages resources for food in the county to eliminate hunger among low-income individuals and families in the area.
Because of our extended network of community leaders, We can respond quickly with one of the most important resources these families need. Food!
